Insuring the XEV YOYO – small, electric, correctly classified
The XEV YOYO is an electric city runabout of vehicle class L7e – not a classic passenger car but a "heavy quadricycle". That is exactly where many tariff calculators fail: the class simply isn't provided for, and a German type code is missing on top. We insure the YOYO at regular conditions anyway – with liability, casco if you wish, and the matching eVB number once you accept.
- Class L7e
- A light vehicle with regular registration and normal plates – we deliver the matching eVB.
- Electric
- A compact city EV – battery and charging accessories in casco if you wish.
- eVB for class L7e
- The eVB has to match the vehicle class – for the YOYO we issue exactly that one.
L7e – the vehicle class hardly any calculator knows
As an L7e vehicle the YOYO is registered regularly and needs its own motor liability insurance – but the class simply isn't provided for in most online calculators. Combined with missing German key numbers, that often leads to rejections or fantasy premiums that don't do the little EV justice.
We work with insurers that rate light vehicles by their technical data: power, value, use as a city car. The result is a classification at city-EV level – with liability, partial or full casco including battery cover if you wish, and the eVB that matches the vehicle class.
Because class L7e is missing from many tariff systems, the choice of insurers is smaller than for a car – but the premium need not be higher. What is rated is power, vehicle value and the typical city use; whether a no-claims class from a previous vehicle can be transferred, we check case by case.
In casco, parking damage, vandalism and the battery are what matter for the YOYO. We clarify upfront whether battery and charging accessories are included and how the vehicle value is set – with a light vehicle that is settled faster than most people expect.
