Insuring the Dongfeng Box E2 – small EV, standard tariff
The Box E2 is the smaller version of the electric city car from Dongfeng's EV brand Nammi – sold by importers as Box E2, Box E3 or Nammi Box. For insurance the trade name does not matter, only what the papers say. We insure the E2 at regular small-car conditions and issue the eVB number as soon as you accept our quote.

E2 or E3 – for insurance, the papers decide
With the Box models, the digits after the name denote the trim or battery version and are used inconsistently by importers. For insurance that is secondary: rating follows the technical data from the CoC or individual approval – power, vehicle value, segment. That is also why we do not need any key numbers from you for the request, only the information that the car is a Dongfeng Box.
If the car arrives as a direct import with an individual approval under Sec. 13 EG-FGV, the German HSN/TSN codes are missing – and online calculators abort. That is a data problem, not a risk problem: a four-metre city EV with modest power stays a small car, even if the software does not know it. We work with insurers that handle exactly this manual classification.
The premium then follows the usual variables: no-claims class, regional class, annual mileage and driver circle. If you use the E2 as a second car for short trips, set the annual mileage realistically low – one of the most effective levers on the premium there is.
In casco we focus on the EV modules: cover for the traction battery including consequential damage from overvoltage while charging or rodent bites, the charging cable and, if you wish, a new-price or purchase-price clause for the first years. Plus the city risks that actually hit this car: parking damage, vandalism, glass breakage.
