Box, Nammi, E3 – one car, many names, one clean classification

Nammi is Dongfeng's electric sub-brand; its small car came to Europe as the "Dongfeng Box" and is frequently offered in Germany as the "Box Nammi E3". Depending on the sales channel, the vehicle arrives with a European type approval – or as a direct import via the individual approval without German key numbers. In the latter case online calculators abort, and many insurers wave you off. We insure both routes.

The Box is rated for what it is: a compact city EV in the class of the Citroën ë-C3 and friends – with a correspondingly favourable classification instead of a fallback tariff. In casco we focus on the EV modules: cover for the traction battery including consequential damage (such as overvoltage while charging or rodent bites), charging cables and, if you wish, a new-price or purchase-price clause for the first years.

The premium follows no-claims class, region, mileage and driver circle – for the Box, the same variables as for any other small car. As a city car with modest annual mileage it often lands in the affordable range, provided it is correctly classified as a city EV.
